Central Florida Episcopalian: Around the Diocese
Bishop Howe and Dean Clark present the portrait and plaque to Ms Wilder.

Cathedral librarian Beatrice Wilder received a surprise Easter Sunday at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Orlando, when the Very Rev. Anthony Clark, Dean of the Cathedral, at right; Bishop Howe; and the Cathedral’s members and staff presented her with a portrait and plaque of appreciation. The picture will hang in the newly named “Beatrice Wilder Research and Reading Room” of the Cathedral’s C. Arthur Yergey Memorial Library. In addition to her library duties, Miss Wilder also has served for 25 years as diocesan historiographer, and as the prize-winning history columnist for the Central Florida Episcopalian.

The Yergey Library serves not only the Cathedral parish but all congregations in the Diocese. The librarian is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. At other times, visitors must apply for admittance at the reception desk in the Cathedral office. New users must register.

The Library is endowed by the Yergey family in memory of C. Arthur Yergey, a longtime Cathedral member and Senior Warden. The collection numbers about 5,000 volumes. It comprises the Cathedral and Diocesan collections as well as the library of the former World Center for Liturgical Studies, probably the most complete liturgical collection in the Southeast. The collection includes most versions of the Bible and commentaries; a wide selection of books related to Christianity, Judaism, World Religions and the Church Fathers; a set of the Babylonian Talmud; children’s books and recreational reading including mysteries and humor.

The Cathedral Church of St. Luke is at 130 N. Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801. Phone: (407) 849-0680
