Sunday, May 10 and Sunday, May 17               Disaster Relief Offering for Nepal

Conversations with the Diocese of Singapore, which includes the country of Nepal, have led to the opportunity for the Diocese of Singapore to give directly to Singapore’s Crisis Ministry, known as ACROSS. Anglican Crisis Relief, Outreach and Support Singapore has worked in many countries from Iran to Japan, demonstrating a practical and efficient response to varied crises. ACROSS already has a team in Nepal–and the Diocese of Singapore has clergy and congregations there. In fact, one pastor and 17 members of his congregation of 200 died in the first earthquake. We are recommending that congregations give to the Diocese of Singapore which has the personal presence there in Nepal.

The Rt. Rev. Rennis Ponniah warmly welcomes our support and partnership in this task. We are proposing that parishes take special offering on Sundays May 10 and 17, and forward the offerings to the Diocese at 1017 East Robinson Street, Orlando, FL 32801. Please indicate that they are for Nepal. Earl Pickett will then wire the Diocesan Gift to Singapore in time for Pentecost on May 24th.
