Declutter Your Life: Practical Ways to Find Outer Order and Inner Calm

Practical tips for decluttering your life will be revealed in this session at Lifetree Café. The program for the evening features a filmed interview with Gretchin Rubin, author of the New York Times #1 bestselling book The Happiness Project. “As I’ve studied happiness, I’ve been surprised about how much outer order contributes to inner calm,” says Rubin. “Clutter-clearing seems insignificant, but it energizes people. By getting control of their stuff, people feel they have more control of larger things.” Participants will get practical steps for decluttering their homes and their schedules and living calmer, happier lives.

What Your Black Friend Wants You to Know: The Conversation About Race No One Is Having

An open conversation about racial understanding will take place on this evening at Lifetree Café. The program includes a film featuring honest insights from black Americans about their experience with race. “White people-the dominant culture-think the country has moved on,” says Anthony Smith, a black pastor and facilitator of the “Musings of a Postmodern Negro” blog. “But there’s still an underlying racial narrative in this country. Stuff is still happening.”

Why Men Hate Church: An Open Forum on the Male Exodus

The trend of most men avoiding church will be considered during this session of Lifetree Café.  The program features a filmed interview with author and church analyst David Murrow.  “Men don’t hate Jesus, but they do hate the mechanics of going to church,” says Murrow, who points out that a typical church doesn’t appeal to male values. “If church was a show on TV, it would be on the Oprah network.”
Participants will have the opportunity to talk about both the reasons and consequences of men abandoning church involvement.
