The St. Mary’s Outreach Committee continues to extend the hand of assistance in our Community. Activities this month include (ed) the following:

Teachers Wish List Program For the second year in a row, we collected for the Teacher’s Wish List Outreach2program to benefit the teachers and children of the Turi T. Small Elementary School here in South Daytona. The Outreach Ministry requested boxes of tissue, hand wipes, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, 3 x 5 index cards, 8.5 x 11 copier paper, new or gently used headsets for computer equipment, zip lock bags of all sizes. Once again, like last year, our collection was a success! Thank you for all who donated to help our Teachers educate and supply our local elementary school children.

We are in the process of holding a Baby Collection for the end of August-September timeframe. Look for Outreach1the crib which has been placed in Palmer Hall. Please place all things for baby – clothing, diapers, disposable bottles, socks, shoes, boo-ties, pacifiers, mobiles, stuff animals and baby linen/blankets. Clothing items can be new or used, laundered of course. The Rock-a-bye Baby Collection will be taking place from now until September 17th.

Celebrate Seniors – Celebrate Grandparents Day! – Council on Aging

September 13th is Grandparent’s Day and is also a Sunday. The Outreach Committee will be making a donation to the Daytona Beach Council on Aging during the month of September. The Council on Aging provides many services to seniors in Daytona Beach/ Volusia county which include Home Healthcare, Housekeeping, Meals on Wheels, senior centers and dining sites as well as Handyman services for those seniors in need. Their services are vital to the senior community. Out-reach will be taking up a collection to match our planned Outreach Donation. Please come and enjoy coffee and cake at both services’ coffee hours that day and be our guest to celebrate seniors!

HUM Food Pantry and Bridge of Hope Fall RELAUNCH!!!

Let’s begin the fall season with a bang relaunching our HUM Food Pantry and Bridge of Hope donations. Donations of Boxed Cereal are important to families with young children at our Food Pantry. Next time you shop why not pick up a box or two to donate? Food service-sized cans of any food product are available at Sams Club and BJ’s and are a perfect do-nation for Bridge of Hope. Donations very welcomed by the many homeless that are in need to nourishing food.

Respectfully Submitted,
The Outreach Committee
