HopeMission and Outreach ended its year with ways to further reach out to our Community to provide assistance and love in the form of donations and volunteer time.

—Toys for Tots this year netted a collection of approximately $400 worth of toys which were collected and driven to the location by Danielle Schultz. Some of the toys collected were purchased by Mission and Outreach from Annie’s Attic, some from members and a $200 donation came from the Mission and Outreach Budget. Fun was had shopping for toys with these funds.

—An active campaign which will end in January, is currently underway for the Episcopal Relief and Development fund in the hopes of raising $750. Donations can be made either to the church (via a check made out to St. Mary’s with “ERD Donation” in the check memo) or directly. Donations can be mailed to:

–On Wednesday, December 16, F.A.I.T.H. held a candlelight vigil on the steps of City Hall to pray for strength and progress as partners to help our homeless community and for City Council to feel our support, encouraging the members to keep going forward. 100 people, including St. Mary’s rep Deb Konkos, attended. Willa Marie Smith from Timothy’s Episcopal also attended as did Mark Geallis, Executive director of HUM , Fr. Phil Egitto from Our Lady of Lourdes as well as other clergy also attended, offering prayers and reflections. Afterwards, a candlelight procession ascended the stairs in to Council Chambers to make their presence felt, while Fr. Phil very briefly addressed the Council. This was an Advent Outreach event.

–Donations from Missions and Outreach for the month of December:

Toys for Tots $200, F.A.I.T.H. $300, Domestic Abuse Council $250, Palmetto House $250

Food for HUM for January: Canned Soups and Stews, Canned Veggies and Canned Pork and Beans

A Word of Thanks and Keep Going Strong St. Mary’s Outreach!

During the first week of December, I sent an email to the Warden of the Vestry as follows:

“It has been an honor to serve in the Outreach Chair role for the past two years for St. Mary’s. The generosity of our members has been awesome, rising to the occasions to give of themselves more and more as time goes on. Thank you also for your support and I wish to thank those on the Outreach Committee for their hard work, caring hearts, and teams-man-ship support to help those in Daytona that need it. It has been a joy. Here’s hoping the Christmas season is beautifully blessed and the “little white church on the corner that could” feels God’s love and continues to provide a caring hand to those that need it by bringing those that are not already here into its loving midst with that care.”

Respectfully submitted,
Deb Konkos, Outreach Chair
