Consider a trip with Solar Light for Africa this Summer.

Solar Light for Africa is currently recruiting a high school and college-age youth team and an adult team for short-term mission trips scheduled for this summer.

The dates are June 20-July 4 for Youth Missions and July 6-18 for Adult Missions.  Participants will travel to Uganda and work with Ugandan team members to deliver and install solar power systems at an orphanage that serves victims of “nodding disease,” a mentally and physically disabling condition that stunts the growth of children. There will also be opportunities to take part in the orphanage’s work with a school for deaf children and other projects. Participants will get to serve the wonderful people of Uganda while also enjoying the spectacular sights of the country.

The cost is $3,800 for the Youth Missions trip and includes airfare from Orlando, all expenses in Uganda, and a contribution toward the equipment we will install.

The Adult Missions cost is $2,000, but does not include airfare. Each adult participant is responsible for travel costs to and from Entebbe, Uganda, as well as additional expenses of $200-$400 to pay for a Ugandan visa, immunizations, medication, and personal expenses.

Solar Light for Africa has been leading short-term mission trips to East Africa since 1999. My wife, Charlene, is executive director and leads the trips. I have been on all the Youth Mission trips and plan to also join the Adult Mission this summer.  Charlene spoke to clergy wives at the 2016 Diocesan Convention about this ministry as well as having a booth at the convention.
