On Monday, May 9, Evelyn and I (Daniel Smith) attended one of Bishop Brewer’s regular dinners for clergy and spouses. For us, the good food was a bonus. Of greater importance were the connections and reconnections that took place during the evening.
As a priest coming back to the Central Florida Diocese after 27 years of serving in other locations, the evening was an opportunity to meet other clergy and their spouses, tell stories of the “old days,” and hear about what’s going on in the diocese now. For us, it was a chance to realize again that we are home.
This night, 14 clergy and members of the diocesan staff gathered for an evening of barbecue, fellowship, and Laura Lee’s famous banana pudding.
