ABOUT DR. DOUGLAS GROOTHUIS

A Call for Thoughtful Christian Engagement

“We need more thoughtful and well-informed Christians in the marketplace of ideas, even in the hot spots. Many have never heard a thoughtful defense of Christianity. We are called by Jesus Christ to engage these people. Christians should know what they believe and why they believe it. As they grow in their confidence that Christianity is amply supported by reason and evidence, they should likewise grow in their courage for the Christian witness. We do not have the luxury of sitting out the battle for knowledge. No Christian can afford to be on vacation from speaking the truth in love in the strength of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:15). Eternity is too long and God’s glory too important to do Christianity on the cheap.” ~Douglas Groothuis

Dr. Douglas Groothuis has a robust history as a philosopher and apologist of the Christian faith. He is Professor of Philosophy at Denver Seminary, where he is the head of the Christian Apologetics and Ethics program, and co-directs the Gordon Lewis Center for Christian Thought and Culture. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Oregon in 1993, and has been on the faculty at Denver Seminary since that time. Over the course of his career, Dr. Groothuis has written twelve books, including Truth Decay (2000) and Christian Apologetics (2011), both of which won the “Award of Merit” prize from Christianity Today magazine. His most recent book is Philosophy in Seven Sentences: A Small Introduction to a Vast Topic (2016). He has also published thirty academic articles in journals such as Sophia, Religious Studies, Philosophia Christi, Journal of the Evangelical Theology Society, Priscilla Papers, and Inquiry
