Weather permitting, 11 people from across the Southeastern U.S. will answer the call to the diaconate Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando.
The Rt. Rev. Gregory O. Brewer of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida will ordain Karen Geddes Davenport, Sean David Duncan, Gregory Emanuel Favazza, James Andrew Flood, IV, Robert Talmadge Griffith, Robert Maurice McGee, Kay Swann Mueller, Kenneth Lee Nolen, Tom Morgan Phillips, Robert Sean Strenth, and Richard Lawrence Wilson to the Sacred Order of Deacons in Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The people’s prayers and presence are requested.
Clergy should wear red stoles. Receptions will follow the ordinations.
Attendees should note that parking is available in several locations. A small parking lot for limited mobility and handicapped individuals is located behind the Cathedral on Jefferson Street. Free parking for other attendees is available in a surface lot south of the Great Hall at the northwest corner of Washington Street and Magnolia Avenue.
Parking also is available in the Regions Bank garage on the northeast corner of Orange Ave. and Washington Street by entering the up-ramp on Washington and receiving an entrance ticket. Drivers should then take an exit ticket from an usher at the Cathedral and use that ticket, plus the Region Banks garage ticket, to exit the garage free of charge, according to the diocese. Childcare will not be available for the ordinations.
The event could be postponed if Hurricane Irma threatens Central Florida. Individuals interested in attending should check the diocese website or call the Cathedral at 407-849-0680 for weather updates.
