The Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida announced its first post-Hurricane Irma plans on Monday, including how to get relief help.
Hurricane Irma this past weekend hit the Florida Keys and continued a northward course through the state, impacting numerous counties, including those in the Diocese of Central Florida.
“We hope and pray you have made it safely through Irma, even as many of us are still experiencing her high winds,” said the Rev. Canon Tim Nunez of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida on Monday morning, Sept. 11. “While are all anxious to know of any damage and want to get repairs and clean-up underway, please do not venture out into unsafe conditions. Please do not violate curfews and respect law enforcement’s requests to keep roads clear while they and power crews are rushing to resolve emergencies. Trees and limbs may yet come down, power lines and flooding remain serious dangers.”
Churches that need to make claims in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma are asked to access https://cfdiocese.org/hurricane-irma-2017/ on the internet.
Nunez also said that he and deacon John Motis are in touch with Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) in regard to multiple issues, including relief funding.
Churches and ministries are asked to email Bishop Greg Brewer at bpbrewer@cfdiocese.org and Nunez at tnunez@cfdiocese.org with status reports and, of course, any personal crises from the storm.
“God bless and guide us as we respond,” Nunez said.
