Early risers this Sunday can look forward to something special at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Winter Park: breakfast.
St. Richard’s rector, the Rev. Alison Harrity, announced Thursday, Jan. 11, that the church will serve breakfast following the 8 a.m. service. Harrity will be the celebrant of the Holy Eucharist and the preacher at both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services. Carl MaultsBy will be the organist.
Education classes also will be held, with adult education taking place in the parish hall, youth Sunday School in the Youth Room, and children’s Sunday School in classroom 3 – all at 9:30 a.m. Schola warm-up is at 9:45 a.m.
St. Richard’s teams prepare breakfast for parishioners on the second Sunday of each month. Those interested in joining a breakfast team are asked to call Don Smith at 407-671-6192.
In other church news, the Rev. Dr. Dale Truscott will hold two training sessions next week for those who would like to encourage missing churchgoers to return to church. Sessions will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the Conference Room. Truscott’s team will assign individuals to a family.
Also, St. Richard’s Chili Cook-Off will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20. The chili judging starts at 5:30 p.m.
The event, which is a benefit for the St. Margaret’s Guild Outreach Fund, will feature wine, beer, and raffle baskets, as well as scores of delicious chili creations. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids.
