The weather is heating up, and so is registration for the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy’s wide variety of summer camps.
Serving children at two Melbourne locations – 50 West Strawbridge Ave. (Lower School, Parish Campus); and 5626 Holy Trinity Drive (Upper School, Pineda Campus) – HTEA is offering an exciting assortment of different activities for various age groups in June and July. Following are the camps being offered according to the school:
Parish Campus: June camps – half-day: $120 per week, full day: $240 per week. Register for two camps in one week, or one full-day camp, and receive $10 off on select camps. Use promo code FULLDAY2018 at registration.
Free Early-Risers Before Care (7:30-9 a.m.) and Aftercare (3:30-5:30 p.m.), Parish Campus only.
Space is limited. Payment in full is required to reserve space. Payments will not be refunded or prorated for cancellation or non-attendance.
Drop-off/pick-up: Morning session drop-off is at 9 a.m., and pick-up is at noon. Afternoon session drop-off is at 12:15 p.m., and pick-up is from 3:15 to 3:30 pm. All parents must sign in and out at the gym gate at the Parish Campus and at the Tiger Cafe at the Pineda Campus. Extended aftercare fees will be charged for late pick-up after 5:30 p.m. at $25 for the first 15 minutes, $5 per minute after that.
Snacks: Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided at the Parish Campus.
Lunch: Lunch is from noon to 12:30 pm. Bring your own lunch, drink, and water bottle. HTEA is a peanut-free school.
Attire: Campers should wear closed toe shoes, shorts, hats, comfortable shirts, and sun screen.
Friday Celebrations Water Slide Day at Parish Campus: Morning and afternoon sessions – bring a towel, bathing suit, and sunscreen. Campers have option to participate in indoor activities instead of Water Slide Day.

Basketball “FUNdamentals” (Grades 1-7) – June 4-8, 9 a.m.-noon; June 18-22, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Campers interested in improving shooting, ball handling, and the overall knowledge of the game will benefit from this session. New skills will be highlighted when the campers play on game-day celebrations.
Builders’ Camp (Grades 1-3) – June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. This creative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) program will have your future engineer or scientist designing, prototyping, and building! They’ll ignite their imaginations in our technology Makerspace as they create and test their own designs with LEGO bricks and other materials. An invention convention will highlight our creations.
Cheerleading Dance Camp (Grades 3-7) – June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. Campers will prepare for the Football Friday Extravaganza by learning cheers and dances.
Come Grow with Me (Grades PS-K) – June 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. This unique school readiness program integrates STEAM activities (science, technology, math, engineering, art, and math) as well as music and literature with high-interest themes such as space, animals, ocean, and many more. Our littlest campers will explore their natural curiosity for the world around them, as well as form friendships with others to help them develop school and social skills early.
Come Go Wild with Us All Day Specialty Camp (Grades 4-7) – June 11-15, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Campers will explore and observe the world around them. They will learn the importance of being a good citizen of the Earth while they investigate their local environment using their “research buckets.” Campers will use microscopes, conduct water tests, build habitats, design dams, and create an aquatic and terrestrial terrarium.
Cooking and Crafts Club (Grades 1-4) – June 4-8, 11-15, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Budding chefs and entertainers will learn the science of healthy cooking as they enjoy creating crafts to delight the palate and artistic senses. They’ll also learn party planning skills to dazzle friends and family.
Full “STEAM” Ahead (Grades 1-7) – June 11-15, 9 am.-noon. Inquiring young minds will investigate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) principles in creative and exciting ways, including digital design, computer coding, video game making, Bee-Bot mazes, and other activities all designed to ignite analytical thinking. Fun math activities will keep basic facts sharp while providing new strategies to build upon.
HT’s Got Talent (Grades 1-7) – June 25-29 12:30-3:30 p.m. Talent show 2:15-3:15 p.m. last day of camp. Campers who want to develop their confidence and showmanship will enjoy this creative opportunity to let their inner gifts shine! Any talent will be welcomed — magicians, singers, storytellers, performers, dancers, musicians. Fun activities such as show production, improvisational directing techniques, hip-hop dance, debate, and video/movie making will be presented in this creative fast-paced session. Play games such as “Whose Line is the Anyway?” Our grand finale will be the Trinity Talent show!
“New” I’m Right, You’re Wrong, Let’s Debate! (Grades 3-7) – June 4-11, 12:30-3:30 p.m. (Grades 4-7) June 18-22, 9 a.m.-noon. This instructional session will develop the fine art of debating, speaking, leadership skills, research, teamwork, improv, and critical thinking. Mock trials will empower campers to think on their toes as they present arguments and rebuttals in a positive and safe environment. Get the edge on assertive communication as confidence grows.
“New” Imaginarium Inventors Workshop (Grades 4-7) – June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. Childhood curiosity, experimentation, and imagination will be cultivated through making inventions using random materials, research, and literature skills. Campers can explore a world of exciting engineering and technology through everyday objects and found materials. Laser engraving in the Makerspace will also be highlighted. An invention convention will highlight our creations.
“New” Jr. Scratch Techno Kids Club (Grades 1-4) – Dates to be announced, 12:30-3:30 p.m. This “instructional” session will engage critical and creative thinkers utilizing the coding program, Scratch Jr., and other technology coding programs such as Bee-Bot robots.
Jr. Tiger Football Camp (Grades 3-7) – June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. Learn drills and skills with the Upper School football players to develop the strength and precision of a Holy Trinity Tiger.
Jr. Tigers on the Go! (Grades PS-K) – June 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Campers will enjoy energetic indoor and outdoor fitness activities that will develop more self-confidence in groups. Activities may include team building sports, group games, crafts, aerobic dance, sports, tumbling, cheerleading, dramatic play, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities, building with LEGO bricks, and water obstacle courses. Campers’ new talents will be showcased at the sporting events on Celebration Friday.
“New” LEGO Challenge Lab Camp, (Grades 4-7) – June 4-11, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All-day campers will use LEGO kits to explore and investigate simple machines. Students will compete in design challenges and determine which variables produce a winning LEGO creation. Students will gain insights in science, engineering, and technology.
“New” Let’s Make a Movie (Grades 4-7) – June 11-15, 18-22, 12:30-3:30 p.m. In this two-week specialty camp, students will learn about the process of making videos and movies. Campers will write action-packed scripts, and direct and video their own productions. Green screen technology will help showcase special effects. Final movies will be shown on the big screen to the entire camp audience on the last camp day. Each week of camp is registered for separately.
Make Your Own Adventures Camp (Grades 1-7) – June 25-29, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Campers will rotate through three “smorgasbord” activities each day. Selection will be made day of camp. Campers will have the opportunity to try a variety of activities each day, including sessions such as: All Star Sports, Maze Madness, Myth Busters, Artful Antics, Time Travelers, and Jr. Science Geocaching Sleuths. This camp offers participants the chance to try and learn new things with every change of session.
“New” Mathercise (Grades 1-7) – June 18-22, 12:30-3:30 p.m. (Grades 1-3) June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. This “instructional” session will reinforce math skills using various math technology programs. The program will help campers reach new levels and evaluate their progress as skills are mastered. The hands-on activities in this session will help campers keep skills sharp while preparing for the school year.
Musical Theatre (Grades 2-7) – June 4-8, 11-15. This two-week specialty camp will focus on acting, drama, and singing to showcase talents in a musical theatre performance on June 15 from 11 a.m. to noon; in the gym, 9 a.m.-noon.
Rock and Read (Grades 1-7) – June 18-22, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Whether they’re reluctant or voracious readers, campers will enjoy moving and grooving through the pages of exciting adventure stories and various literature genres. They’ll experience the joy of reading through immersive, hands-on activities that integrate art, music, technology, drama, writing, and storytelling.
“New” Science Sleuths and Spies (Grades 1-7) – June 4-8, 18-22, 9 a.m.-noon. This exciting hands-on session will train campers to be a spy by completing such missions as cracking codes, conquering a string obstacle course, creating marshmallow shooters, writing invisible ink messages, learning about forensics, and many more exciting challenges to sharpen your secret agent abilities!
Spanish Camp “Festival de Verano” (Grades 1-3) – June 11-15, 9 a.m.-noon. (Grades 4-7) 12:30-3:30 p.m. Campers will spend their time immersed in an exciting part of the Latin American world. This dynamic, hands-on session will have campers experiencing Spanish culture, music, food, art, and literature while learning the language. Campers spend each day moving from one activity to the next, including special “No English!” times, designed to provide an immersion experience while still allowing for a ton of fun.
Stagecraft and Design (Grades 1-4) – June 4-11, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Perfect for those who prefer to work behind the scenes. This camp session will have campers creating backdrops, props, costumes, and invitations for the Musical Theatre performance, along with other stagecraft projects. Craft activities will provide more opportunities to showcase their artistic flair in an outside gallery presentation on Celebration Friday.
Techno Kids Club Goes Hollywood (Grades 1-3) – June 11-15, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Use iPads to create your own movies. Be the scriptwriter, director, and star! Create comical cartoons and more! Creative thinking will develop by utilizing technology in entertaining ways. Learn improvisational techniques as well as more formal journaling techniques to report on camp events
“New” Tigers Around Town (Grades 4-7) – June 18-22, 9 a.m.-noon, cost $265. Camper drop-off is 7:30 a.m. for Tuesday, Thursday. Registration for this camp will close June 3. This camp offers campers the opportunity to stretch mentally and physically. Adventures include a visit to AdventureHQ, Treetop Trek, Kennedy Space Center, and the Oaks Theatres. On Friday, campers will participate in the time-honored tradition of “water fun day” at HTEA. All admission and transportation fees are included in the price of the camp. Campers under 54 inches tall cannot participate in the Canopy Walk at Treetop Trek, but will complete the Chutes & Ladders course, instead. Appropriate clothing and shoes – closed toe, closed heel, no holes. Shorts okay but need to be long enough to prevent harness discomfort; hair ties required. Additional waivers required for participation. Campers must arrive at HTEA at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday, to allow time for planned activities.
Volleyball (Grades 4-7) – June 4-11, 11-15, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Campers of all athletic abilities are invited to strengthen their volleyball skills. Experienced players will polish their skills, while beginners will learn fundamentals of the game.
World of Sports (Grades 1-7) – June 11-15, 9 a.m.-noon. Does your child love all things athletic? Campers will enjoy learning about various sports while developing teamwork and fitness. Exciting new sports, such as lacrosse, will be introduced, while fun games and contests will promote sportsmanship and skill development.
Pineda Campus (alphabetical)
Jr. High 101 (Grades 7-8, open only to students enrolled at Holy Trinity) – July 23-27, 9 a.m.-noon, cost $160. Highly recommended for rising seventh- and eighth-grade students at Holy Trinity. Session helps new junior high students adjust to a new location, understand expectations, and make friends prior to starting at the Upper School.
Keyboarding (Grades 6-8) – July 23-27, 12:30-3:30 pm. Cost $120. Typing involves more than just your thumbs! Excellent class for any junior high student.
Specialty Camps Pineda Campus (alphabetical)
A Capella Youth Camp (Grades 8-12) – June 30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., free. A one-day extravaganza is a vocal camp for teens in grades 8-12. A cappella music is one of the most unique music genres, and used on contemporary pop, jazz, gospel, barbershop, and many other art music forms. Taught by experienced vocal clinicians, this camp will focus on the skills necessary to work in a tight-knit singing group and have the opportunity to work on background vocals, blending techniques, harmonizing, and more. Participants will put on a final show from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to showcase what they learned during the day. The camp is sponsored by the Sunshine District of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Gulf to Bay Region 9 of Sweet Adelines International, and Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. Lunch, snacks, and drinks are provided.
Driver Education Two sessions and locations available. Cost $200. Help your child be safe during their formative driving years. Enroll them in HTEA’s driver training class for teens who have their Florida learner’s permit. Our partnership with Florida Safety Council offers excellent preparation for teen drivers preparing for the driver’s license skills test. Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday over a two-week period. Please be sure to register for the correct location.

- Drones Camp, 9 a.m.-noon. Take to the skies with mini drones! Housing a thrilling, hands-on aerial robotics platform, this camp is the perfect introduction to the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this indoor camp, safety is a priority as students learn to fly in first-person view (FPV), exploring the real-world applications of drones. Campers go through Droneology, the online drone education platform, master basic piloting skills, construct an obstacle course to fly through and stage a final race to showcase their cumulative knowledge. Putting critical thinking to the test, the camp also has students brainstorm ways drones could be used for good, sketching out their ideas for new and innovative drones, and drone uses.
- Game On! Code your own Roblox Games 12:30-3:30 pm. Dive into the endless world of Roblox and create your own games! Roblox is one of the fastest-growing game creation platforms on the planet, with more than 60 million players per month and top developers making over $1 million a year. Learn how to use Roblox Studio to create your own 3D worlds and then use LUA to code game mechanics. Publish, share, and play games with friends on any platform from console to mobile.

- EV3 Robot Battles 9 a.m.-noon. Welcome to the world of robotics and computer programming! Each day you will design and program the latest generation of LEGO® robots (EV3) to perform challenges such as the SumoBots Challenge, Joisting Challenge, and the Catapult Challenge. You will program your robots using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Software, which is based on National Instruments LabVIEW™, the industry-leading graphical programming language used by scientists and engineers worldwide!
- Minecraft Modding & Java Programming 12:30-3:30 pm. Become a better crafter and gain valuable Java programming skills when you learn how to build personalized Minecraft mods. Work with a drag-and-drop code environment to construct Java code. Make mods for your very own Minecraft server. Build your own custom weapons, make a rapid-fire bow and arrow, or armor that lets you fly. You’ll start by programming using a drag-and-drop interface that lets you learn Java code without having to type everything out. As you get better and understand the code better, you can transition to writing pure Java to get things working exactly the way you want! You will not only learn how to add levels and characters to the game but will learn to modify the actual code of Minecraft, and create new enchantments, items, blocks, and more! MATHLAB (Grades 6-12) – June and July sessions available, $250 each session. Improve your math skills with this outstanding program! Utilizing the web-based Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS®) system, the Math Lab is ideal for rising sixth- through 12th-graders at varying skill levels. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine what a student knows and doesn’t know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics he or she is most ready to learn. With proven results, this program is perfect for both the advanced student, and those needing some assistance. Individual assistance will be provided by a Holy Trinity math faculty member. College Prep Camps Pineda Campus (alphabetical)
ACT/SAT Prep (Grades 10-12) – Cost is $140 each session (ideal for seniors taking the June SAT and ACT tests). Help your student prepare for upcoming standardized testing with our SAT and ACT prep classes. These eight-hour sessions include test-taking strategy, a practice test, setting up of Khan Academy’s free online SAT prep program, and scoring of the practice tests with review of most missed questions. Foundations in Judeo-Christian Ethics and Morality (Grades 9-11 only) – June 5-8, 11-12, 18-22, and 25-28, 8 a.m.-noon. Cost $475. Taught by chaplain Amy Turner, this introductory ethics class will use works of fiction and film, and stories and teachings of the Bible to instill timeless ethical and moral values that inform our character, our choice, and our community. In addition to the Bible, books or videos may be used. Class will meet the HT graduation religion credit requirement.

Holy Trinity Basketball Camp with Coach Henderson (Ages 8-16) – June 4-8, 11-15, 9 a.m.-noon. Both camps are fun and challenging. Holy Trinity head basketball coach Steve Henderson’s summer camp utilizes organized games and contests to teach individual and team fundamentals, as well as to improve shooting and ball handling. MASA – Math, Art, Science, Achievement (Grades K-8) – June 11-15, 18-22. MASA provides summer camps in which high achieving and gifted students can challenge themselves and exercise their critical thinking skills to help them develop their intellect, use higher cognitive skills to create and to invent. Moving to the Next Level Girls Basketball Camp (Grades 3-8) – July 2, 3, 5, 6, from 9 a.m.-noon. Put on by HT Lower School head girls’ basketball coach Sharon Foster, this camp will focus on individual skill development, ball handling, speed, movement, balance, agility, and conditioning. This is a camp for girls who are motivated to improve their skills. It is the goal of the coaching staff to improve the skill level of each individual player, as well as to incorporate in them a love of the game. The typical camp day will include stations, skills, contests, and games with focus on team play.

Family Fun Couch to 5K (All ages) – Come ramp up your fitness with Holy Trinity’s cross country team!! Free to members of our community.
