“The doubled impact of your generosity is a game changer.”
That’s how All Saints, Winter Park, expressed the exciting news via social media that trustees of the Joe and Sarah Galloway Foundation had voted to approve a matching grant of up to $100,000 toward a complete replacement of the playground for the All Saints School’s Cotton Education Center.
“I wonder how many of you grew up at this playground or how many of you have raised your children here, with this wonderful place being part of the landscape of their young, beautiful, precious lives?” The Rev. Stuart Shelby, rector, asked in a video announcing the grant and giving the vision for the church’s new “Brick by Brick” fundraising campaign. The grant will double all gifts made from November onward up to $100,000, supplementing the first $25,000 in donations doubled by a previous matching grant from the All Saints Endowment Fund.
Thousands of children have flowed “in and out of its welcoming gates through the years,” the campaign website says of the playground. After more than 20 years of use, the entire playground – from flooring to every piece of equipment – must be replaced, at an estimated cost of more than $250,000.
This project, Shelby said, is for “the future of our children’s joy.” In the video, he also introduced the “Buy a Brick” strategy, by which families or individuals may purchase a brick or bricks for $300 apiece to be installed as part of the playground renovation. Each brick will feature up to three laser-engraved lines of text as requested. The campaign will also receive donations without the purchase of bricks and encourages donors to sponsor individual pieces of playground equipment
“We are 100% in when it comes to this playground,” Shelby said.
The Brick by Brick campaign launched in November 2021 with a goal of $250,000. As of early January, more than $165,000 had been raised. For more information or to donate, visit allsaintsbrickbybrick.org.
