The Diocese of Honduras gave me a very warm welcome during my visit there. I had the chance to speak with several convention delegates and learn about their work in their diocese. Getting to know the clergy is my task.
For my convention address, I reemphasized the importance of the relationship between the Diocese of Honduras and that of Central Florida. I made sure they knew that our diocese remains committed to theirs. As their diocese continues to become self-sustainable, we in the Diocese of Central Florida will be present to help accomplish the task at hand.
After convention, I had the opportunity to visit several microenterprise projects and saving and education groups in and around Tegucigalpa. Truly God is at work in Honduras. The faith these brothers and sisters dedicate to their work is surreal.
Once again my Honduran brothers and sisters touched my heart. On several occasions I found myself tearing up for the hearts I witnessed. The godly relationship between the groups is beautiful. May our beloved God continue to work among his people.
Thanks to Bishop Lloyd Allen and the Rev. Connie Sanchez, these projects and saving and education groups are flourishing in the Diocese of Honduras. They have a total of 61 groups with over 1,000 people involved. This means more than a thousand people are having their lives changed to a better way. People have walked for up to two hours to be a part of these groups. I also had the privilege of meeting the group that sews the linens we are selling in our diocese.
Thank you, Bishop Brewer, for giving me the opportunity to make a difference.
