Lent is a season of preparation to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This year, it begins on Ash Wednesday, February 10, and lasts 40 days (not counting Sundays), and ends on March 24.
Lent is a time of deliberate self-examination and repentance; prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and reading and meditating on God’s holy Word (Book of Common Prayer, p. 265).
During this tithe of the year, we invite God to intervene in our lives, to adjust our relationships and actions, and to make us more pleasing to him.
Many Christians do this by adopting a Lenten Discipline, which may be giving up something for Lent or committing to doing something extra in order to draw closer to God.
