Too often, Christians and churches settle for less than what God desires to be for them and give to them. We tend to focus solely on whether our beliefs and practices are biblical, true, and faithful—an important consideration, but not the only one. We must also ask whether we are missing something, operating with a narrow or myopic perspective.
This clergy day will explore why we often accept too little of God’s Word, Christ, and human growth. Together, we will seek a fuller pursuit of wholeness by engaging more consistently with the whole counsel of God, the whole Christ, and the whole Christian.

Wholeness: A Promise for Christians and Churches
Session Descriptions

Session 1 - Whole Word
In this session, we’ll examine our struggle to engage with the whole of God’s Word. We’ll explore the challenges that limit our attention and consider how we often function with a constricted canon within the full scope of Holy Scripture. Beyond just acquiring true beliefs and practices, we’ll reflect on what it means to be faithful to the whole counsel of God.
Session 2 - Whole Christ
This session focuses on our functional Christology—the attributes, actions, works, and promises that shape our worship and witness to Christ. We’ll explore the power of growing in faith and awe of Christ’s fullness, seeking a deeper vision of His love in all its height, width, depth, and breadth.
Session 3 - Whole Christian
In the final session, we turn to our functional anthropology, examining how we often have a narrow view of ourselves and those we serve. We’ll discuss the Christian call to see people as whole and to pursue integrity and wholeness as essential to discipleship and pastoral care.
