Celebrating 75 Years of Healing a Hurting World

For 75 years, Episcopal Relief & Development’s diverse, faithful community has responded compassionately to the suffering in our world. With your partnership, we have grown from our founding in 1940 as a granting agency into a respected international development organization. We strengthen local churches and empower communities to fight poverty, hunger and disease with sustainable, locally-driven solutions. Together, we reach more than 3 million people annually in almost 40 countries.

The Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida celebrates Episcopal Relief and Development Sunday on the First Sunday of Lent.

A Collect for the 75th Anniversary of Episcopal Relief & Development

Loving and merciful God, you bestow your grace on all of your children: Remember our sisters and brothers throughout the world who, in partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, strengthen communities, empower the poor,  nourish the hungry,  restore the sick and uplift those affected by disaster; and uphold Episcopal Relief & Development for the next seventy-five years, so that your Kingdom might be known to all people; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Celebrate Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday this Lent

Small pix of EpiscopalWe invite all Episcopalians to gather on February 22, or another convenient Sunday during the season, to pray for those living in poverty or without the basics for life, for victims of conflict and natural disasters and for all those around the world utilizing local  resources and expertise to counter scarcity and imbalance.

Episcopal Relief & Development works with local partners in almost 40 countries to tackle these issues. You can support this work by contributing to a plate offering or by mailing your gift with the attached response form. Your participation is a simple way to help convey Jesus’ love for our most vulnerable neighbors.

2015 Lenten Meditations

Written by a collection of Episcopal Church and Anglican leaders, and edited by author and Christian formation specialist Jennifer Gamber and published by Forward Movement, Episcopal Relief & Development’s Lenten Meditations 2015 centers on five statements Episcopal Relief & Development and the authors hold as core beliefs:WOMAN WITH KARITON

• I believe that everyone should have access to clean water.
• I believe that no one should go hungry.
• I believe that all children and families deserve a healthy start in life.
• I believe that no one should live in poverty.
• I believe that together we can heal a hurting world.

Reflecting a range of diverse voices, the meditations provide insights on reading of spiritual significance and how we might apply them to our lives as we face a world in need. As we consider Jesus’ life of healing and sacrifice during this Lenten season, Episcopal Relief & Development asks you to reflect on your faith and how you might take action in responding to a hurting world. The traditional Lenten practice of almsgiving provides an opportunity to renew your commitment to people in need by supporting our work.

The 2015 China Adventure Trip

Making Friends Building Friendships China Map

June 14-26, 2015*

We are looking for six adventurous individuals, ready for just about anything—an invitation to a village feast or a trip to the big city—half way round the world, yet still within the reach of God’s love!  The team will be traveling to the remote, mountainous regions of southern China to Make Friends and Build Friendships in the name of Jesus Christ.  We will visit communities within an ethnic minority people of 3,000,000, among whom we have know of fewer than 1000 believers in Jesus.  Spontaneous opportunities to practice or teach English can happen anywhere: on a basketball court, in a classroom, or on a village stage.  We will eat exotic food, sleep on hard beds, and have an adventure of a life-time.
