Saint Michael and All Angels Day is a big day for many Episcopalians, especially for those who attend St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Orlando. But this year figures to be extra special for parishioners.
Bishop Greg Brewer will preach and celebrate Saint Michael and All Angels Day at St. Michael’s on Sunday, Sept. 29. He is scheduled to preach and celebrate the children’s family (abbreviated) service at 9 a.m. and the Choral Eucharist at 10:15 a.m.
This marks at least the second time that Brewer has preached and celebrated Saint Michael and All Angels Day at St. Michael’s, and his return is exciting for parishioners. “People are definitely excited about Saint Michael’s Day,” said St. Michael’s parish administrator Ashleigh Gonzalez. “We get so many people. It’s almost a homecoming of sorts. And, of course, when the bishop is there, it makes it even more exciting.”
Gonzalez said this year’s Saint Michael and All Angels Day will be a busy one. Confirmations, reaffirmations, baptisms, and receptions (people who are to be received) will be held.
Leaders at St. Michael’s are expecting a big turnout this year. Capacity for the church is 475-500.
St. Michael’s is located at 2499 N. Westmoreland Drive, at the corner of Bryn Mawr Street, Orlando. For more information, call the church office at 407-843-8448.
