Bishop Holcomb’s Consecration & Seating: A Weekend to RememberJuly 21, 2023 • Erik Guzman  • DIOCESAN FAMILY • EPISCOPAL & ANGLICAN NEWS • EVENTS • LEADERSHIP

As director of communications for the diocese, I thought it was important to commemorate and encapsulate the recent consecration of our new bishop. Until June 10, 2023, I had never experienced an ordination and consecration service. That, coupled with my love for Bishop Holcomb and his family, made for a day that I will cherish forever. I've heard from many of you who share this sentiment.

Along with my good friend and talented editor Ricardo Ortiz, I produced this video as a keepsake for Bishop Holcomb and a summary for our diocesan family and archives. The gathering of clergy and laity to worship, bishops signing and sealing the ordination certificate, the procession, liturgy, sermon, Eucharist, and seating are all captured in just a few minutes and set to music.

If you weren't able to attend the consecration or the seating at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke the following day, this video was created with you in mind as well. I hope you like it and will share it with your churches, friends, and family. Maybe show it during coffee hour?

Special thanks to the Rev. Josh Bales for providing his song, "We Remember You," as the soundtrack for this video. It speaks to the heart of what it means to gather in worship and remembrance of Jesus. The song will be available in August on Josh’s new EP titled The Weight of Glory (JoshBales.com).
