The sweet taste of glazed lemon-blueberry scones, the aromas of smoked salmon, omelets and applewood smoked bacon, and the creamy flavor of strawberry cheesecake will be among the special treats on a special day this weekend at the Canterbury Retreat & Conference Center.
Canterbury will hold a Mother Day’s Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday. Canterbury welcomes people to treat their mother, grandmother or any other special person in their life to a unique brunch buffet that will include pastries, breakfast, lunch dessert and even a kids’ menu.
The brunch kicks off the grand opening of Canterbury’s dining room opening to the public. The brunch will take place in “The Overlook on Lake Gem,” the new name of Canterbury’s dining room. This event precedes the first nightly dining opening from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 13.
At the brunch, pastries to be served include croissants, glazed lemon-blueberry scones, and assorted mini bagels. Breakfast items available will be mini bagels with cream cheese, smoked salmon, onion and capers, fresh-cut assorted fruit, assorted quiches, an omelet-and-egg station with food made-to-order, and applewood smoked bacon.
Lunch items will include fresh spinach and arugula salad with watermelon and feta; chicken salad with grapes and walnuts; seafood salad; lemon dill grouper; roasted chicken; roasted red potatoes; and broccoli with hollandaise sauce.
Desserts will be lemon tiramisu trifle, and strawberry shortcake. Kids’ menu items are mini blueberry pancakes, chicken tenders with mac n’ cheese, and chocolate chip cookies.
