Garland

On Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., the Rev. Trey Garland will be officially installed as rector at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 251 E. Lake Brantley Drive, Longwood. On Sunday, Jan. 27, at 4 p.m., the Diocese will celebrate the Third Sunday after Epiphany by celebrating the new ministry and installation of the Rev. Tim Nunez as rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, 221 S. Fourth St., Lake Wales.

Bishop Greg Brewer will preside and celebrate Holy Eucharist at both installations.

Garland, born in Texas, comes to Resurrection with a diverse professional and academic background, according to the Resurrection website. A former school priest, parochial school teacher and school chaplain, he brings an educational background in theology, music and law to the Seminole County church.

Nunez

Nunez is the former Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of Central Florida, having worked in that capacity for 4 ½ years before accepting a position last fall as rector of Church of the Good Shepherd. He began preaching full-time at the Polk County church on Jan. 1.

Prior to serving on Bishop Brewer’s staff, Nunez served as rector at St. Mary’s in Belleview for 11 years. Belleview is a small town in Marion County, located about 66 miles northwest of Orlando.
