The weekend of the Second Sunday after Epiphany will be a joyous one in the Diocese of Central Florida.

The Diocese of Central Florida announced that a new ministry and four ordinations to the diaconate will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 19-20. The back-to-back events kickstart a very busy winter season for the diocese.

At 5 p.m., Jan. 19, by the grace of God and power of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Greg Brewer will preach and preside at the new ministry and installation of the Rev. Dr. Jeremy Bergstrom as rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 700 Rinehart Road, Lake Mary, Florida, 32746. Bergstrom follows the Rev. Chris Brathwaite, who served as interim rector for 14 months.

The people’s prayers and presence are requested at the celebration. Clergy are asked to wear red stoles. A reception will follow.

At 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, God willing and the people consenting, Bishop Brewer will ordain Jared Lane Jones, Sara McCracken Oxley, Gail Richards Towell, and Rebecca “Becky” Bridges Watts to the Sacred Order of Deacons in Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, Florida, 32801.

The people’s prayers and presence are requested. Clergy are asked to wear red stoles. A reception will precede the ordination at 4 p.m. in The Great Hall.
