Have the urge to get away this year? Equal Opportunities Tours (EO) has partnered with clergy, leaders, parishes, schools, and ministries of The Episcopal Church to provide five locations and nearly 30 options for travel dates.
EO has put together packages to the Holy Land, Eastern Europe, Mediterranean Sea, Northern Ireland, and a little closer to home with a cruise to Canada and New England.
Twenty-five dates are still available for those who want to visit the Holy Land. Find available dates here: http://www.eo.travelwithus.com/files/uploads/HL17_A.pdf
The 10-day tour includes visits to the Sea of Galilee, Mount of Beatitudes, Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jerusalem. Add-on options to Egypt, Judea and Samaria are available.
The Dialogue Series includes trips to Eastern Europe (Poland and Prague) and Northern Ireland.
The nine-day trip, called The Holocaust and Anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe tour, begins May 2. The trip to Northern Ireland, called The Troubles tour, will begin September 5 and last eight days.
During The Holocaust and Anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe tour, travelers will walk in many places of the Holocaust and learn the history “of passive and active resistance to racial persecution, the scars of Eastern Europe, what can be applied to our communities today,” according to the EO website.
Travelers to Northern Ireland will hear “from and meet people from both sides of the conflict to see their paths to reconciliation.”
Guest speakers will highlight two cruises: Rev. Dr. Donald Fishburne on the Canada and New England Cruise and Rev. Dr. C.K. Robertson on the Footsteps of Paul Cruise.
The Canada and New England Cruise will embark September 30 and last 11 days. Stops include Bar Harbor; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Sydney, Nova Scotia; and Quebec City.
Guest speaker Fishburne is an Episcopal priest and travel writer who serves as a consultant to clergy and congregations in several denominations in leadership, stewardship ministries, outreach, and in planning mission trips, pilgrimages, sabbatical travel and leisure trips.
The Footsteps of Paul Cruise begins Oct. 9 and will last eight days with stops in Athens, Mykonos, Patmos and Ephesus, among others.
Robertson is Canon to the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church and Distinguished Visiting Professor at the General Theological Seminary in New York City. He holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from Durham University and membership in the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Robertson is also General Editor of the Studies in Episcopal and Anglican Theology series.
