Pulse Memorial Service on Sunday, June 11 at 5 p.m. at Cathedral
Please plan to attend this special service on Sunday evening, June 11, at 5 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando 32801, remembering our community’s tragic loss in the attack at the Pulse nightclub one year ago. Bishop Gregory O. Brewer will speak. Scripture and prayers will be offered, and we will light votive candles in memory of the victims. Counselors will be available to speak privately with anyone after the Vigil. This service will not include Holy Eucharist.
The Chancel Choir from First United Methodist Church will sing together with the Cathedral Choir. You’ll also hear the Orlando Gay Chorus and the Orlando Fire Department Bagpipe Band.
A love offering will be requested to benefit Proyecto Somos Orlando, a local organization that provides financial assistance to the families of the Pulse victims. Proyecto Somos Orlando is one of the charities that is being supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida.
Ample free parking will be available in the lot on Washington St. at Magnolia Ave., and in the Regions Bank Garage on Washington St.
The Cathedral will also be open all day on Monday, June 12, for quiet prayer and reflection. Counselors will be available in the church. At 12:00 noon, the Cathedral’s tower bell will toll 49 times, in memory of the victims. At that same time, countless other tower bells will toll 49 times throughout the city and around the world.
