St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Titusville will be celebrating some longstanding history, sacraments and more on Sunday, March 31.
The Brevard County parish in the Diocese of Central Florida will be the site of Bishop Greg Brewer’s final visitation before heading on a three-months-long sabbatical. The service, which starts at 10 a.m., will celebrate the church’s 150th anniversary and be held outdoors under a tent much like an old-fashioned revival.
There will be two infant baptisms, seven confirmations, seven receptions and two reaffirmations during the service. Father Rob Goodridge is rector of St. Gabriel’s. Father Ken Nolen is associate priest, and deacon is Johnny Clark.
Scriptures to be used during the service are: Joshua 5:9-12, Psalm 32, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, and Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32.
“It’s going to be quite a big event,” Clark said. “It will be one service. All services will meet together as one to celebrate 150 years of a congregation.”
Clark said a Sunday “after-church dinner” will be held following the service at approximately 11:30 a.m. The church also will have a special pot luck supper on Saturday, March 30. The supper will include dishes made from recipes in the 150th anniversary cookbook, which has been published.
