The Commission on Ministry is hosting the

Annual Conference on Ministry at Church of the Messiah,
241 N. Main Street in Winter Garden
Saturday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please consider with care those you might encourage to attend this conference. Who in your congregation has demonstrated leadership gifts and has a passion for leading and equipping God’s people? Who has the heart of a deacon? Who is struggling with a call to ministry and still unsure what form that ministry might take? Who is already clear about a call to ordination, and whom are you prepared to support in continuing discernment? The Conference on Ministry is for each one of these, and it is required for all aspirants to ordained ministry.

When trouble comes, our response must be to pray and praise more.

As a community we want to come together specifically to praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy and ask for His favor on His Church in Central Florida.  Please join believers from around Central Florida to come together in an ecumenical service of prayer and praise not just for Central Florida, but for our nation and the world.

Given the international, national and local calamity we our walking through, these evenings are going to be critically important. This election cycle is bizarre to say the least and another reason for us to pray and praise, bringing our focus on the One who reigns over all things. There is much that hangs in the balance: to bathe these days in intercession, repentance and worship seems like the right thing to do.

We will be gathering on the Thursday evenings listed below for an informal time of worship, praise, prayer and calling out to our good God.  Services will be led by gifted, internationally known worship leader, David Baroni. You can check him out at www.davidbaroni.com.

Note – these services will be devoted to God’s people representing different streams of His body coming together to humbly seek Him, worship Him and be revived and refreshed in His presence. A short message each night will be brought by a different pastor in the Oviedo community.

In response to the tragedy on June 12 in Orlando, the Institute for Christian Studies is offering a one day workshop on understanding grief and working with people in grief.

Archdeacon Kristi Alday will lead the workshop. Archdeacon Alday is the former COO of Walking the Mourner’s Path, a national and international grief ministry. She spent several years traveling and teaching grief and how to facilitate grief support groups. She worked in New York after 9/11 and additionally has a Master’s Degree in Counseling.

This workshop is open to any person – clergy or lay people – who is interested and there is no fee for attending.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at:
