The ICS Story

The Institute for Christian Studies (ICS) was formed in the late 1970s as a response to the Faith Alive movement. Through Faith Alive thousands of adults were experiencing a deepening relationship with Christ and were hungry to grow in their faith walk. They wanted more high quality, in-depth Christian education. ICS became a resource that busy adults could turn to for more Bible training.

In the late 1980s the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida asked ICS to help train their deacons and prepare them for the ordination process. ICS expanded to offer coursework that could be used specifically for this purpose.

Today, ICS offers a wide range of live and online adult Christian formation and education. We have a specific track just for those preparing for ordination as a deacon in the Anglican Episcopal church. In addition, ICS offers anyone who wants to grow deeper in their walk with God, the opportunity to get the training they seek.

ICS is perfect for someone who wants perhaps more than what they might get from a local church Bible study or small group, but isn’t ready or able to attend seminary. Housewives, business leaders, young adults, and senior adults, have all experienced a rich, rewarding, and deepening faith and experience by taking ICS online courses.

We are blessed with a depth and breadth of highly credentialed and faithful instructors who are eager to share their knowledge. ICS continues to be committed to preparing leaders, lay and ordained, through the highest quality of education, fellowship, and worship.
