Common Ground

About the Weekend

We all want to find our people – the friends who get us, the communities where we fit in, the places where we feel at home. But what if your people are more than the people you already know? What if belonging isn’t about finding people who are just like us, but discovering that we already belong to something bigger?

Common Ground is an opportunity for students in grades 7–12 from across the diocese to come together, meet new people, share new experiences and discover what it means to be the Church. Through worship, teaching, prayer and plenty of time to have fun together, we’ll explore what it means to belong to a community that reaches far beyond our own youth groups.

In Ephesians 4:4–6, Paul reminds us of what we share: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all. Because church is more than a place we go. It’s a people we become. Through scripture, common prayer, the stories we share and the table where Christ welcomes us all, we discover that we have more in common than we thought. We may arrive as strangers, but we leave knowing that we have a home in the family of God.

**Participants do not have to be Episcopalian, but must be recommended by an Episcopal Church. Each church will be required to send a chaperone with their students. We recommend the churches cover the registration costs for their chaperone.**
