St. George’s Episcopal Church – The VillagesJune 3, 2021

St. George Episcopal Church is a community of approximately 600 people whose mission is to proclaim by word and action the healing love and Good News of God in Christ.  We are located in America’s fastest growing and largest active senior community, The Villages, in Central Florida. We worship God following traditional Episcopal liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer.  Our parishioners choose any of four weekly services ranging from a formal Rite 2 Eucharist to our Outdoor Eucharist celebrated in our garden, accompanied by guitar.

Our music program,  directed by organist Dr. Andre Lash,  features classical organ music accompanied by a vocal choir, bell choir, and often our own congregation’s individual talents.  We sponsor a concert series unrivaled in our community.  These high caliber performances have included contemporary, classical and liturgical music.  Even though we are mature in years, we are a youthful and energetic community serving our Lord.  We have a vibrant outreach program providing support to local, national and international projects. We offer multiple ways for members of our congregation to spread the Good Word of Christ through ministries, such as The Order of St Luke, The ECW Women’s Guild, The Brotherhood of St Andrew, and The Order of the Daughters of the King.

Members of our St George family support each other through programs like our Friendship Initiative, Supper Six, singles activities, grief support and prayer chains.  Everyone is welcome to join and enrich their lives by becoming a part of our loving community.

We have a lively online ministry as well.  In addition to live streaming our services, our eNewsletter keeps parishioners up to date on church news and provides inspirational messages. Our podcasts “Musings on Faith” and “Getting to Know the Episcopal Church” are designed to help listeners grow in Christ. Episodes include podcasts of Morning Prayer, Compline, sermons and other topics of interest to those exploring their spirituality. We have a presence on most social media (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram). St. George is constantly looking for new and better ways to spread the word of Christ.

As we call our new rector, we seek an experienced spiritual leader who will guide the work of our clergy and lay volunteers, lead our stewardship campaigns and who thrives on pastoral care.
